Sunrises – unique beauty
When was the last time you got up and out early enough to see a sunrise? Most mornings from spring until late fall I am out with the dog first thing before work and have the amazing privilege of being able to witness the beauty of the rising of the sun.
One morning as I was out I was thinking about a number of conversations I have had over the years. The sun was coming up and I was thinking about how every day the sun rises but no 2 days is it ever the same. Sometimes the colours are more vibrant than others. Some days the clouds create a really unique visual with the sun reflecting off them. Sometimes the sky seems to be on fire with everything being brilliant red and orange while other days it’s more of a cotton candy sky with pinks and blues. Each day brings a unique sunrise.
Just like those sunrises, you are all unique and beautiful. You each have a special gift or talent. You each possess a unique beauty. The problem is that we have bought into the notion of what society has told us we need to be to be beautiful. You don’t need to have “perfect” hair, or a “perfect” body, or straight gleaming white teeth.
Maybe you have a smile that lights up your whole face. Maybe you have the ability to make someone else smile with a kind word. Maybe you have the gift of encouraging others. Maybe you are funny and can make people laugh and forget their concerns for just a short minute of the day. That’s what makes you beautiful.
Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colours and ages.
Take some time today to reflect on what you find beautiful in other people and find the beauty within yourself.
